National Broadband Plan

Ten years on since Ireland’s first subsidised Internet rollout, the 2009 ‘National Broadband Scheme’, and still no award has been made on the latest National Broadband Plan which promises high-speed Internet for all.

The Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment Richard Bruton made an announcement on Thursday, April 18 that the appointment of a bidder for the state intervention network in respect of the National Broadband Plan (NBP) is now in the final stage.

However, seven years on since the launch of the NBP in 2012 and we are still awaiting. And when it does get awarded – how long will the rollout take….another seven years ?
